Kendrick Lamar drops "N95" Visual

 "N95" Music Video

By Kendrick Lamar

Article by Mr. E Da Guttababy

Scene opens on the beach with a young heavily carbonated young boy is watching the waves as a crucified Kendrick floats over the waters towards the young child.

Kendrick Lamar, unlike Young Thug, is actually an artist when it comes to wordplay. So, I would expect this type of imagery when imagining the type of videos he would co-produced. And, I was not disappointed.

The song pretty much calls out cancel culture by stripping everyone of things they pride themselves in: "Take off the foo-foo, take off the clout chase, take off the Wi-Fi
Take off the money phone, take off the car loan, take off the flex and the white lies
Take off the weird-ass jewelry, I'ma take ten steps, then I'm taking off top five

Take off them fabricated streams and them microwave memes, it's a real world outside (Take that shit off)"

After a whole verse of stripping people naked to their inhibitions, he ends the verse with a question that most people can't answer today:

Most of us live a life where when reunite with people we haven't seen in a long time, we can't even update them to WHO WE ARE. We tell them about our job, which is what we do. We tell them about our children, who are totally different beings. We will even brag about things that happen to us, but, yet to ever tell them about WHO WE HAVE BECOME SINCE WE LAST SAW THEM.

This is why cancel culture is real. When a person show who they are it for the most part is ignored. But, even worse CANCELLED.

And the fact that we aren't even concerned with what's happening in the world we live in says so much. So much that Kendrick in Verse 2 talks back: "The world in a panic, the women is stranded, the men on a run
The prophets abandoned, the law take advantage, the market is crashin', the industry wants
Niggas send bitches to sleep in a box while they makin' a mockery followin' us
This ain't Monopoly, watchin' for love, this ain't monogamy, y'all gettin' fucked
"

And he's right we all gettin' Fucked.

About

"Nobody’s gonna wait on you."

This is the mantra of hip-hop artist losLAUREN 718. It's what prompted him to rhyme for veteran rapper AZ in a nightclub in 2005. It’s part of the motivation that led him to being featured in The Source's Unsigned Hype column in 2006. It's why, not seeing the opportunities he desired, he opted for grad school at Florida A&M University, earning his MBA, and why he joined the Air Force. It's what's been the inspiration behind his company, and record label, Allergic to Failure, since its inception in 2012.

Splitting his time between The Bronx, and Florida, losLAUREN 718's music incorporates both traditional NYC lyricism, and Florida’s history of melody and bass. Listeners will also find a refreshing dose of honesty in his work. He points to a humorous, but authentic, line from his EP "Shades of Blue 2.5", as he raps, “Stingy with dough / fuck Coinstar / I roll my quarters,” noting, “that’s a real fact. I’m not trying to pay 10% for you to roll it up!”

Previously, losLAUREN 718 has worked with a litany of notable DJs and producers, including DJ Green Lantern, DJ Drama, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, Ty Fyffe (Foxy Brown, Busta Rhymes), QB Da Problem (50 Cent, Scarface, Joe Budden, Raheem DeVaughn), Nefarious! (Amor Jones), and Chris Prythm (Lloyd Banks, Nipsey Hussle).

About:

Village Live Records are proud to present ‘Time & Tide’, the new album by Mancunian poet and emcee, D’Lyfa Reilly.

The 12-track album is entirely produced by Village Live artist Aver and features laid-back sampled grooves that provide D'Lyfa with space and time to weave his complex, wisdom-filled lyrics.

Along with the album, D'Lyfa Reilly releases visuals for the title track "Time & Tide", shot at the very scenic Talacre Beach (Wales, UK).

D'Lyfa Reilly is a poet and rapper from Manchester, UK. He first burst onto the UK hip-hop scene in 2011 aged 19, and gained notoriety and features on national radio play with a string of self-released EPs.

In 2015 D'Lyfa took a hiatus from music, taking time out to study, start a family, and build a home. During this period he continued writing poetry and raps, working on his craft and reflecting on the growth and changes in his life.

After finding a new rhythm in life, D'Lyfa contacted friend and former collaborator Aver (Village Live Records) in 2019, looking to finish off old projects and begin work on new material. The two spent 18 months building a cohesive body of work that blended some of the songs they started as early at 2013 with new tracks they had made.

Young MA Responds to her getting shot.

 Young MA was shot?

"Y'all know I be chilling..." out of Young MA's own mouth as she went on Instagram Live to address the rumors that she was shot. Sounding astonished at the statement that she had been involved in a shooting in ATL, the New York Rapper was not adamant about capitalizing off of this open Publicity opportunity. In the Live she mentions a song that she was about to drop but now thinks it would be in bad taste. So this rumor may have cheated us out of some long awaited new music.

About:

Detroit hip-hop artist keemthefranchize presents his latest mixtape called BLACK SUMMER.

This “Free EP” is described as an expression about the dark space, while embracing this extraordinary dark race. BLACK SUMMER stays true to the lyrical word-play and storytelling style that fans of keemthefranchize have come to love and expect.

When asked about the inspiration behind BLACK SUMMER, Keem explains that "things came to a tipping point. I was already in a dark place from dealing with the effects of covid-19, losing my godmother, the racial injustice, remembering last summer but grateful to be out of that dark spot, and then I was blindsided by a situation with some friends of mine. I normally don’t speak on things that bother me. I usually bottle it up, but I felt like this time it was necessary to speak on it.” Although it was a dark time, Keem says that he was also able to get in tune with his skin, the melanin, and have pride in his blackness. “I’ve never spoke on race when previous injustices bothered me because I felt awkward and fearful.” Keem hopes that BLACK SUMMER will inspire others to process and heal from their own dark spots. He says, “We all have dark moments, but being vulnerable and transparent about it is the start of healing.”

Check out the EP and grab your copy below.

The rapper/filmmaker known as keemthefranchize got his start in music through his love of the culture and started writing rhymes at a young age. Born and raised in Detroit, his passion for music and film took him to Eastern Michigan University. After graduation Keem’s journey led him to Houston where he would experience one of the biggest challenges of his life: stage 3 cancer. He is now a proud cancer survivor and advocate. Keem’s music features a layered, lyrical depth and is described as ideal for the visual storytelling of film and television.
